Dental Exams & Professional Hygiene Services

At Calleros Dental, we treat every patient like family—because to us, you are. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be welcomed with genuine warmth and care. If it’s your first visit, we give you a full tour of the office. Our doctors and hygienists are not only highly skilled, but also incredibly kind, gentle, and attentive. We take our time to be thorough. We schedule an hour and a half with each patient, and that time is reserved solely for you. They take the time to get to know you, listen to your concerns, and make sure you feel comfortable and cared for throughout your visit. Whether it’s your first appointment or you’ve been with us for years, we’re here to support your health with heart.

Comprehensive Dental Exam

After completing your forms through our simple, paperless system, you’ll be warmly welcomed into one of our treatment rooms, where we’ll begin with a friendly, one-on-one conversation. This personalized interview helps us understand your dental history, your goals, and any concerns you may have—so we can care for you in a way that feels truly comfortable, thoughtful, and tailored to you.

We’ll then take a full set of dental x-rays along with intraoral and extraoral photos to document your current condition. Your exam will include:

  • Oral cancer screening

  • TMJ (jaw joint) evaluation

  • Periodontal (gum and bone) assessment

  • Orthodontic evaluation

  • Charting of existing dental restorations and conditions

  • Sleep and breathing disorders assessment

  • Cosmetic evaluation

  • Blood pressure/pulse reading

Routine Check-Up Exams

During regular check-ups, our doctors and our hygienists will perform:

  • X-ray review: To detect cavities, cysts, tumors, bone loss, and evaluate root positions

  • Review medical history including airway health

  • Oral cancer screening: Examining the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, and gums

  • Gum health check: Evaluating for signs of periodontal disease

  • Tooth decay exam: Inspecting all surfaces for cavities using specialized instruments

  • Review of existing dental work: Checking the condition of fillings, crowns, and more

  • Photos as needed: For diagnosis, education, or treatment planning

Professional Hygiene Services

Cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are performed by our skilled Registered Dental Hygienists and include:

  • Removal of tartar (calculus): Hardened plaque above and below the gumline that can’t be removed by brushing alone

  • Removal of plaque: A sticky film of bacteria that can lead to gum inflammation and periodontal disease

  • Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT): A dental cleaning technique that focuses on removing bacteria-laden biofilm from teeth and gums, preventing tooth decay, gum disease and other related issues. It’s a more gentle and efficient method compared to traditional scaling and polishing, as it uses a warm stream of water, air and powder to remove biofilm and stains, rather than relying solely on manual instruments.

  • Polishing: To remove surface stains and leave your teeth feeling smooth and fresh

  • Laser Bacterial Reduction: All of our providers are certified in this gentle, effective treatment that targets bacteria around the gums

  • Fluoride varnish or Nano-hydroxyapatite treatment: Helps prevent tooth decay and reduce sensitivity, and remineralize enamel

  • Oral hygiene instruction: Personalized tips for keeping your smile healthy at home

  • Intraoral photos (as needed): To help with diagnosis and education
