Digital X-Rays at Calleros Dental

At Calleros Dental, your comfort, safety, and peace of mind mean everything to us. That’s why we use the latest in digital imaging technology—including gentle 2D digital radiography and advanced CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)—to care for your smile with precision and compassion.

Instead of traditional X-ray film, we use a modern electronic sensor that captures high-quality images instantly. This allows us to see things clearly and explain them easily—so you always feel informed and supported every step of the way.

For more complex needs, our CBCT technology offers a highly detailed, 360-degree view of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding areas. It helps us detect hidden concerns, plan treatments with exceptional accuracy (like dental implants), assess airway health, and truly tailor your care—all with a quick, comfortable scan done right here in our office.

Digital x-rays offer many advantages, including:

  • Up to 80–90% less radiation exposure compared to traditional x-rays

  • Faster, more comfortable experience

  • Environmentally friendly—no chemical processing or waste

  • Enhanced image quality for more accurate diagnosis

Why Are Dental X-Rays Important?

Dental x-rays are essential diagnostic tools that help us see what isn’t visible during a regular exam. They allow us to detect issues early, often before you experience pain or discomfort. Early detection can save you time, money, and help prevent more serious dental problems down the road.

Digital x-rays can reveal:

  • Cavities between teeth

  • Abscesses or cysts

  • Bone loss and periodontal issues

  • Tumors (benign or cancerous)

  • Tooth and root alignment issues

  • Developmental abnormalities

  • Problems below the gum line or inside a tooth

Are Dental X-Rays Safe?

Yes. While we are all exposed to small amounts of natural radiation in our environment, digital x-rays significantly reduce your exposure compared to traditional methods. At Calleros Dental, we take every precaution to protect you, including the use of lead apron shields and only recommending x-rays when necessary for your care.

How Often Do I Need Dental X-Rays?

The frequency of x-rays depends on your individual health history, age, risk of dental disease, and current symptoms. Our dentists and hygienists will evaluate your specific needs at each visit.

  • New patients typically receive a full-mouth series, which is generally valid for 3–5 years

  • Bite-wing x-rays (showing upper and lower teeth) are commonly taken once or twice a year during routine check-ups to monitor for new decay or changes
